Also, I am going to be going to the library to research any books they might have, so if any one could pass along some book titles that might help me it would be appreciated.

What I am looking for now is if any one can send me any information on, "Buren" or "Banner". I have found it very interesting looking on the internet and doing research on it, but I think I have found all I can on the net. I have searched the internet and found out little of the history of the Buren watch Company, but nothing on Banner. It then has "Gold Filled" under the leaf and the SN 93768 under that. In the back of the case there is the name "Banner", with a leaf under it that has an "E" in the leaf. The case opens three ways, the front with the stem at 3 o'clock, the back, and a dust cover over in the workings. The only markings on the inside is 7 jewels and the SN 567658. I would like to eventually get it repaired if I could find the right parts.Ībout the watch: Buren is on the watch face and is in an oval that comes to points at either end.

It was my wifes grand fathers when he was a merchant marine in World War 1. Later, in the 1920’s, the remnants of production and the trademark were sold to Switzerland.Ī. Presumably, from 1919 to the early 1920’s there was a transitional period, during which the company began to produce watches with traditional ‘P-U’ movements, but were also already focused on the European watch market using the signature ‘Paul Buhre’.

However, the assembly factory was still producing watches, and later also moved to Riga, where many watches with the serial numbers 49xxxx can still be found in antique shops. Accordingly, it ends with the year of the revolution, after which watches were no longer officially presented as rewards. The numbering ends in 1917 because the table was drawn up according to the award inscriptions on the Bure watches of the tsarist period. The movements that came from abroad in the form of a set of spare parts (90% of all Bure movements), were assembled in Russia by Russian craftsmen in Bure workshops and were numbered according to the above table. Bure was obliged to put the number of the purchased movement on the watch. When purchasing expensive movements assembled in Switzerland, P.
